One day to coming of Don Bosco

You could see all walking frantically preparing for the coming of Don Bosco. It is a new awakening for our community. Students are putting up their best for Don Bosco. Decorations have been done, banners printed and songs in honour of Don Bosco being practiced.

The Teachers from the Secondary School also had their meeting in order to review the performance of their students. This is the last meeting this year. We are grateful for their dedication.

Workshops have been busy trying to finish the pending works. We are lucky that we have enough works in the workshops. What we have to do is to beat the deadlines.

May the coming of Don Bosco reawaken our zeal

Rejected Cheque!!!!!!

Acha tu! One of our cheque, that we issued for the payment of electricity bill was allegedly rejected by the bank. The Kenya Power and Lighting Company, KPLC, came immediately to disconnect power but we pleaded with him to allow us to clear the bill using the Bankers Cheque. When we called the Cooperative Bank enquiring about the rejected Cheques we were informed that the cheque had gone through two days ago. Who was fooling who! At least the power was not disconnected.

Visit to the home for the deaf

Students from the Technical Institute visit St. Luke Children's home for the deaf and dumb and had interraction with the deaf and dump children. This was an initiative of students themselves. This was an eye opener to the plight of the deaf and the dump in our society. When we see these children we realize how we are lucky to be able to hear and talk.

Need for Expansion

There is great demand for quality training and education in Embu. Our Institution has been an institution of excellence and many young people would like to come and study or train in Don Bosco Embu. There is a need for expansion of the Schools and we have in mind putting up new buildings according to the demand.

1. A classroom block that will contain a hall and a laboratory
2. Lavatories
3. A dormitory

We kindly request well wishers and benefactors to help us so that we could serve so many needy youth in our locality and in Kenya as a whole.

Students from our both schools participated actively in this occassion by presenting dramas, songs and above all by having a good appetite to eat all the food that was prepared for them. It was the best occassion in the history of our schools. It was the first time that a special meal was prepared for the outgoing students. We hope to continue with the same tradition.

YCS Hike to Kamburu Dam

Students from both our Institution, Don Bosco Technical Secondary School and Don Bosco Embu Technical Institute, who belong to YCS movement, went for a hike to Kamburu Dam. They were a total of 22 students. They had a good time there. The water had increased significantly in the dams and we hope that short rains will continue so that we may have enough water for the hydro-electric power generation and also for our crops in our farm. We rely heavily on food we produce in our farm; maize and beans, to feed a total of 300 students who are full boarders.
